Huntington Drug Organization Associated with Gang

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Deshune William Calloway, 29, of Detroit, Michigan, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers to possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and 50 grams or more of cocaine base. On January 11, 2010, agents with the Huntington Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at a Huntington, West Virginia apartment following observation of Calloway leaving the apartment to deliver oxycodone pills to an informant working with task force agents. The search yielded almost one half kilogram of crack cocaine, 122 oxycodone pills, 17 firearms and digital scales.

According to court documents, from May 2006 through January 11, 2010, Calloway participated as a member of a drug trafficking organization that obtained various illegal drugs from in and around Detroit and distributed them in and around Huntington. Calloway and other members of the drug organization identified themselves as being members of a gang known as "Cash Out Crips" or "C.O.C." Evidence revealed that members used privately owned vehicles, rental vehicles and commercial bus-lines to transport drugs and currency between Detroit and Huntington. They also used Western Union to wire drug proceeds to help facilitate further drug trafficking. The investigation further revealed that in order to conceal their drug activity, members of the conspiracy frequently recruited Huntington residents to use the residents' identifies to conduct wire transfers, lease rental properties, contract for utilities, and register vehicles.

Calloway faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced on August 23, 2010.

Also in Huntington, another Detroit resident, Ashley T. May, pleaded guilty today before Judge Chambers to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base. May, 26, admitted she and others conspired to distribute crack cocaine in the Huntington, West Virginia area between June and July 2009. According to court documents, May transported and distributed at least 50 grams of crack cocaine at the Huntington Inn Hotel and at a Huntington residence. The conviction stems from an investigation conducted by the Cabell County Sheriff's Department, the Barboursville Police Department and the Milton Police Department. Law enforcement authorities executed a search warrant at a Huntington residence and located crack cocaine, heroin and a .40 caliber handgun. May faces up to life in prison when she is sentenced on August 23, 2010. Special Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams is handling the prosecution.

BECKLEY DRUG DEALER PLEADS GUILTY

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Marland E. Willis, 45, of Beckley, West Virginia, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston to possession with intent to distribute cocaine base. On June 17, 2009, West Virginia State Police troopers responded to a complaint at a residence near Oak Hill, West Virginia. While on scene investigating the complaint, troopers discovered that Willis had about 15 grams of crack cocaine in his possession. Willis, who is scheduled to be sentenced on September 20, 2010, faces between five and 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine. Assistant United States Attorney John L. File is handling the prosecution.
